They will introduce themselves as a resident. They should always wear their identification, and if it isn’t visible, please ask them for it.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate in sharing them with your physician or nurse today.
Clinic Policies
Southwest Middlesex Health Centre will provide patient care with the following principles in mind:
Dignity – treating all persons with a disability as valuable and deserving patients
Independence – supporting the use of assistive devices, service animals, and support persons to access Centre services
Integration – promoting and allowing people with disabilities to benefit from the same services, in a similar way to other patients. If integration does not serve the needs of patients with disabilities, Southwest Middlesex Health Centre will use approved alternate measures to provide services
Equal Opportunity – Southwest Middlesex Health Centre will provide all patients with the same opportunity to benefit from our services
Family Medicine Teaching Site
Thank you very much for allowing residents to be part of your care at SMHC. You are actively involved in the education of tomorrow’s family physicians. Our residents are doctors who have graduated from medical school and are now training to be specialists in family medicine.
During their residency, our doctors acquire knowledge and skills, care for patients, and contribute to the healthcare system, while preparing for their certification exams and independent practice. Depending on the day, residents can juggle many roles, such as student, teacher and employee. A Family Medicine training residency leads to certification as a family physician by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
The CFPC is the professional organization responsible for establishing standards for the training, certifications and lifelong education of family physicians and for advocating on behalf of the specialty of family medicine, family physicians and their patients. The CFPC accredits postgraduate family medicine training in Canada’s medical schools.
